Earlier this month, we had the absolute pleasure of attending the Canterbury Gaming Convention, and what a fantastic weekend it turned out to be. The atmosphere was buzzing from the moment doors opened, with gamers of all ages pouring in to discover new titles, revisit old favourites, and, most importantly, gather around the table to play.
Firstly, we cannot forget about the Quiz Night! This included our amazing twist where teams could win points by playing each other one versus one style each round. This created a chaotic turn of events in the standings and some additional fun. People loved the idea of no ordinary quiz, but something different with a positive and interactive change, with our fast paced strategy games up for grabs.
We were thrilled to be part of that energy. Across the two days, countless players sat down at our stand to try our games – some for the very first time, others returning for another round after hearing good things from friends. It’s always exciting to see people pick up a rule book, dive in, and within minutes be laughing, plotting, and competing like seasoned veterans.
Our demo tables were buzzing, and it was incredibly rewarding to hear the feedback from players. Some loved the quick, snappy play of ButtChess, while others really got into the strategy of Bigly. We also had some great conversations with fellow publishers and designers like Ocean City Games and Bad Trevor, and content creators by the likes of Lucy_playsgames and Caitlin and Cam Board Games – Canterbury truly felt like a celebration of the whole tabletop community, not just the games themselves.
The best part? Seeing the spark when someone finishes a demo and says, “I can see myself playing this with my group.” That’s the kind of moment that reminds us why we publish games in the first place. As well as meeting these enthusiastic people and sharing the games with them, from light hearted jokes to intense strategic gameplay, getting both the mind ticking and laughs echoing around the hall.
Now we’re gearing up for the next big event: Tabletop Scotland, taking place next weekend at the Royal Highlan Centre. It’s one of the biggest conventions on the UK gaming calendar, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our games up north. We’ll have a full schedule of demos running, so if you’ve been curious about what we do, this is the perfect chance to come along, sit down, and play. We are bringing our large versions of these games to really make the tensions heightened, with planned giveaways and great deals.
Whether you’re a seasoned convention-goer or brand new to the hobby, we’d love for you to swing by our stand. Come say hello, try a game, and be part of the fun – we can’t wait to see you in Scotland!
